Hiking in the Catinaccio Rosengarten
As the gateway to a series of must-do hikes in Val di Fassa, Ciampedie is a vast plateau at the foot of the majestic Catinaccio. It can be easily reached by the 100-seat cable car from Vigo di Fassa or by the Vajolet and Pian Pecei four-seater chairlifts from Pera. From there, you can walk through the woods to reach Gardeccia and the Vajolet and Preuss huts. Alternatively, continue further to the Re Alberto hut and the Vajolet Towers, or to the Principe hut and the picturesque Lake Antermoia. Another absolute must-see area is Roda de Vael, via the ancient Vial de le Feide – historically used by shepherds to guide flocks in search of fresh grass – or the Alta Via dei Fassani. The wonderful Alpine passes of Passo delle Coronelle and Passo delle Cigolade, offering breathtaking views of the Dolomites, are also worth mentioning.

Gardeccia-Rif. Vajolet and Preuss-Rif. Re Alberto
It is the only hiking access route to the Re Alberto Refuge and the fairytale-like Gartl basin, one of the most picturesque and well-known spots in the Fassa Dolomites, right in the presence of the legendary Vajolet Towers.
Prà Martin, the "Vial de le Feide" and the Vajolet e Preuss mountain refuges
The route unfolds in the presence of the Vajolet Towers, touching upon one of the most picturesque locations in the Fassa Dolomites.
Gardeccia-Re Alberto-Passo Santner
The ascent to the Re Alberto Refuges and the Santner Pass is a classic hike in the Catinaccio-Rosengarten Group, a must-visit destination for anyone exploring this area who feels confident tackling easy rock-scrambling sections, with the assistance of steel cables in the most challenging spots.
Ciampedie - Gardeccia - Passo Principe - Rifugio Antermoia - Val Duron - Campitello
A classic hike that, starting from the Gardeccia basin, leads to one of the most enchanting lakes in the Dolomites. This heart-shaped alpine mirror with crystal-clear waters is hidden among the isolated scree slopes of the Catinaccio and, according to legend, was created by a nymph.
Gardeccia-Rif. Principe-Rif. Bergamo
A classic traverse that leads from the heart of the Vajolet Valley, over the Principe Pass, into the most hidden and silent side of the Catinaccio: the wild Grasleiten basin, home to the historic Bergamo Refuge. Gardeccia-Rif. Principe-Passo Antermoia-Cima Scalieret
From the Gardeccia basin right up to the ridge of Monte Scalieret, a balcony at 2,889 meters suspended over the heart of the Catinaccio: an ascent that offers one of the widest views over King Laurin’s kingdom and the Vajolet Towers.
Ciampedie-Roda de Vael (Vial de le Feide)
The Vial de le Feide, the ancient sheep-track, guides your steps along grassy ledges and dolomite walls: a traverse suspended between the valley and the sky, leading all the way to the Roda de Vael Refuge.
Ciampedie - Christomannos Eagle
The hike connects the natural balcony of Ciampedie to the Roda di Vael and Baita Pederiva refuges. It then continues along the panoramic trail (Hirzelweg), where you can find the large bronze eagle dedicated to Theodor Christomannos.
Ciampedie - Passo delle Cigolade
A grand loop in the heart of the Catinaccio: from the Ciampedie terrace, the trail ascends to the Cigolade Pass, suspended between the Mugoni peaks and the Cigolade faces, before descending into the Gardeccia basin in the presence of the Vajolet Towers.
