Relaxing holidaySan Pellegrino Pass is a Dolomite pass at an altitude of 1,918 meters, connecting Moena (Fassa Valley, Trentino) to Falcade (Veneto). The entire area is dominated by a unique natural amphitheater, surrounded by the peaks of Marmolada, Pale di San Martino, Civetta, and Pelmo. In summer, it transforms into a lush green paradise for hikers and families, while in winter, it offers sunny ski slopes and miles of scenic trails.
The Costabella four-seater chairlift departs directly from the main square at San Pellegrino Pass and takes about 10-15 minutes to reach the top station, located at an altitude of 2,282 meters. The lift significantly reduces the initial elevation gain of the ascent toward the ridges, gliding over wide, high-altitude pastures where cows graze.
Stepping off the Costabella lift, you will find yourself in the heart of an open-air museum, surrounded by breathtaking views and rich in history. This area is a true paradise for mountain lovers of all ages: it welcomes with equal ease families looking for relaxation, intermediate walkers, and experienced hikers or mountaineers ready to challenge the peaks and via ferratas.

What to do in Costabella
TRENCH PEOPLE
Saturday Take the chairlift up to the stunning basin of the Costabella Ridges. From here, we will begin a trail through alpine pastures and high-altitude vistas, immersed in the beauty of the Dolomites. The itinerary leads us to discover the trenches and tunnels of the Italian front line during the First World War, for an experience that blends nature, history, and memory.
THE CITY OF MARMOTS
Friday Take the Costabella chairlift at Passo San Pellegrino for a pleasant walk through wide, high-altitude pastures, surrounded by a Dolomite scenery of extraordinary beauty. This easy trail is suitable for everyone and leads to one of the areas most frequented by marmots, where you can spot them popping out of their burrows and hear their characteristic whistles echoing across the alpine meadows.
Excursions Costabella
Once you step off at the top station of the Costabella chairlift, you will find yourself in an area rich in panoramic trails and historic stops. The zone offers trekking and walks for all ages and skill levels: easy strolls for families, intermediate hikes, as well as expert excursions and via ferratas. Among the simple walks for families, a must-mention is the CAI trail No. 604, which leads to the Passo delle Selle Refuge (2,530 m). This oasis of peace among the mountains offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding Dolomites: the Costabella Ridge in the foreground, Cima Bocche, Cima Juribrutto, the majestic Pale di San Martino, Mount Civetta, and Mount Pelmo to the east, as well as the entire Monzoni Group, the Catinaccio Group, and the scree slopes of Val San Nicolò to the west. Summer Ski Pass
Panorama Pass, your “passport” to the Dolomites in summer! This pass gives you access to all the lifts open during the summer season in Val di Fassa. It is a unique opportunity to discover and explore the Dolomites by easily traveling to high altitudes. From there, you can hike along numerous trails of varying difficulty, or simply enjoy the most enchanting views while relaxing on the terrace of one of the many mountain huts.
In addition to the seasonal pass for the entire summer, three different options are available for purchase: three days out of six, six days out of six, and seven days out of thirteen, with no daily limits. This multi-day card allows you to use multiple lifts on the same day without any access restrictions.
The Panorama Pass can be purchased online, at the lift ticket offices and automatic ticket machines, as well as at the APT Val di Fassa tourist offices.
