The Catinaccio Rosengarten area is a paradise for families! The vast Ciampedie plateau is the perfect destination for a day at high altitude with your children. At an altitude of 2,000 meters, you will find a green expanse to run and play, along with cozy mountain huts for a short break or a traditional lunch.
In addition to its network of trails, panoramic hikes, and simple walks suitable for young children, the area offers a rich calendar of weekly activities. It starts on Mondays with a medium-difficulty hike to the Christomannos Eagle, a large bronze eagle in a panoramic position at the slopes of Majarè and Roda de Vael. On Tuesdays, visitors go “hunting” for marmots along an easy guided walk. Wednesdays and Thursdays feature slow-paced walks with alpacas to make friends with these gentle animals and discover local history, facts, and legends. Fridays are dedicated to a family walk to discover mountain dairy farm animals and their daily activities. Finally, Sunday walks focus on forest animals, their dens, tracks, and characteristics.
But that is not all! In the Catinaccio area, you can also “fly” on the exciting Fly Line – an 1,100-meter-long suspended wire route to glide above the trees at a controlled speed – and explore fun themed trails for families.
The new highlight for summer 2026 is the Blue Crow themed trail, a 40-minute narrative and artistic forest path around Ciampedie. This is a wonderful opportunity to rediscover the ancient legends of Val di Fassa and bring its symbolic characters to light. The blue crow, an imaginary mountain guardian animal, meets wood and metal installations dedicated to Salvan, Vivana, Stria, and other local legend characters. Along this 9-stage itinerary, children must solve an important mission guided by an illustrated booklet.
Family-friendly trails include the Path of Legends, which leads into the magical world of King Laurin along the path connecting Ciampedie and Gardeccia, and the Forest Path, with various totems describing the peculiarities of the Alpine environment along route no. 540.
Completing the offering is Kinderpark Ciampedie, a playground offering childcare for children aged four and up (for an hour, half a day, or a full day) and interesting educational activities, such as the “Laurino the Farmer” workshop, where you can learn how to sow, care for, and grow a plant, or face painting.
